ACES & EIGHTS
Chris Poindexter (Guitar/Vocals)

My earliest musical influence had to have been the Beatles. According to my family, my first words were “yeah, yeah, yeah”. I’m proud of that and I still love the Beatles!

Growing up, all I cared about was playing baseball (I was obsessed). But I loved listening to music and I always had the radio on.

So I started messin’ around with the guitar when I was about 13 (nothing serious). In March of 1978 I heard “You Really Got Me” by Van Halen. The sound of that guitar changed my life and I was re-obsessed. Didn’t play much baseball after that, played a lot of guitar since. VHI is still my favorite record, Van Halen is still my favorite band (Roth era, of course) and EVH will always be my favorite guitarist!

After that, I started playing in high school bands and that’s where I met John Milotte. We’ve been friends for 30 years (time has flown). Working with John again has been great; he’s very dedicated to his music and he’s a rock solid drummer.

Assassin and Roulette were my bands in the 80’s (again with John M.) Then in ’91 I joined Devious, a smokin’ band that had the whole package (musicianship, great songs, high energy shows). We worked hard! Practiced constantly, played tons of gigs, wrote, recorded and fought like brothers. For 3 straight years we always had something exciting going on or coming up. I thought we might get a deal, then along came grunge rock, out went hard rock and we were done. But, those guys are still my very good friends and those were 3 of my best years in music, ever! Too much fun!!

Everything happens for a reason. 1 week after Devious split up, I met my wife Sandra. We got married in ’95, had our 1st daughter in 2000 and 2nd in 2002. To me, nothing is better than being Husband and Dad to my girls. I’m incredibly blessed!

I’ve been teaching guitar for 25 years, full time since ’97. I’m a huge WASHINGTON REDSKINS and baltimore orioles fan (tough job). When I’m not hangin’ out with my family I’m usually playing or practicing guitar or writing and recording songs in my home studio or running and lifting weights. I also have an instrumental recording project called Wire to Wire with my friend Rodd Heiden. Rodd is an incredibly talented and creative drummer. We have produced 2 CD’s so far and our third is in the works. I’m extremely proud of our work together.

Aces & 8’s have been a ton of fun! The chemistry was there from the first note we played. I love being a part of this band. John, Chris and J. are amongst the best players I have ever worked with and they make me a better musician. I go way back with all of them (lots of recording projects) and they have always been dedicated pro’s. The future is bright! I hope you come see us. Thanks! Chris
